2006-12-11 - Travelsky goes for CUSS kiosks with IER

Travelsky, provider of information technology solutions for China’s air industries, has selected IER, the leading supplier of passenger and baggage processing solutions in the air transport, for the deployment, in several major Chinese airports, of CUSS self-service check-in kiosks.

During the five past months, Travelsky has ordered from IER a total of twenty four IER 978 kiosks in order to quickly implement Common Use Self-Service check-in services in Chinese airports. Sixteen of them have been deployed already.
All the check-in kiosks ordered are full Common Use Self-Service kiosks, designed to accommodate multiple airlines. For now, up to twelve Chinese national airlines are accessible on line to the e-ticketed travellers in four airports across the country. Two kiosks were deployed a Kunming Airport (Yunnan Province), three at Qingdao Airport (Shandong Province) and another three at Haikou Airport (Hainan Province). Eight kiosks are installed at Beijing Capital International Airport. Six of them are dedicated to Air China and two to China Eastern.

Travelsky also acquired the Software Development Kit designed by IER with which they easily developed in a few weeks time the dedicated application that makes the newly deployed IER kiosks available for all Chinese national airlines check-in applications for now as well as for international carriers in the near future.

Franck Vitté, Managing Director of IER Pte Ltd, said: “We are delighted and proud to be working with Travelsky on such an exciting Common Use Self-Service check-in kiosks deployment. CUSS check-in is now undergoing an accelerated phase in its development all over the world. The implementation by Travelsky of IER solution at Qingdao, Haikou, Kunming and Beijing airports represent a significant step for the Chinese air industry.”

For many years, IER has been involved with IATA in creating the CUSS standard and has gained an extensive expertise in this field resulting in a comprehensive range of solutions including hardware, middleware and customized self-service application.
