PRESS RELEASES2008-02-14 - IER selected to equip Billund Airport with IER 918 CUSS check-in kiosksIER – the leading supplier of passenger and baggage processing solutions in the air transportation – has been selected to install 12 self-service check-in kiosks at Billund Danish Airport.
The IER 918 is the latest generation of Common Use Self-Service Kiosks designed to meet the new challenges in passenger travel and take advantage of emerging trends such as e-ticketing, 2D bar coded boarding passes, the ability to read e-passports and to check-in airline passengers with or without bags. All the kiosks will be up and running by the end of March 2008. 4 of them will be equipped with an active eyecatcher in order to display information from Billund Airport. The kiosks are used for check-in operations of passengers travelling with Atlantic Airways, Cimber Air, British Airways, KLM and Sterling. In addition to the kiosks, Billund Airport has chosen the IER monitoring system (IMS) to supervise by themselves their kiosks operations. The IER monitoring system is a powerful supervision device providing real time overview of the entire kiosk installed base. On the supervision screen, a tree structure listing the devices of the faulty kiosk (colour-coded icons) is displayed, allowing the user to be quickly informed about incidents. Anders Nielsen, CUSS Vice President Project & Development, said: “IER is one of the major kiosk supplier in Europe and produces innovative solutions, also regarding CUSS kiosks. The 918 model represents the first step for Billund Airport to become a 100% barcode boarding pass airport. The big touch screen with a very high resolution and the compact design of the actual kiosk will help all passenger groups to perform a smooth self-service check-in.” As CUSS check-in application is now undergoing an accelerated phase, IER which multiplies kiosks deployments at airports all over the world, is very proud to install Common Use Self-service kiosks at Billund Airport. For many years, IER has been involved with IATA in creating the CUSS standard and has gained an extensive expertise in this field resulting in a comprehensive range of solutions including hardware, middleware and customized self-service applications.
