IER – the leading supplier of passenger and baggage processing solutions in the air transport – has been selected to supply 11 self-service check-in kiosks to be installed at Vienna International Airport.
Vienna International Airport, located at the heart of Europe, has been offering to its passengers a self-check-in solution with 36 CUSS kiosks since 2003 and has now selected the new generation IER 918 Common-Use Self-service kiosk designed and manufactured by IER.
The IER 918 is the latest generation of Common Use Self-Service Kiosks designed to meet the latest challenges and take advantage of emerging trends in passenger travel such as e-ticketing, 2D bar coded boarding passes, the ability to read e-passports and to check-in airline passengers with or without bags.
A total of 11 additional kiosks will be deployed by the end of October, equipped with a full page passport reader, as well as 2D bar code and card readers. The kiosks which will be installed at the two terminals of the airport will also be equipped with an eye catching overhead display. This overhead display will increase the visibility of the kiosks at the terminal and will contribute to their attractiveness to passengers. In addition, IER will supply to Vienna Airport a special two wheel trolley in order to easily move the kiosks on demand.
The kiosks are used for check-in operations of passengers travelling with Austrian Airlines, Deutsche Lufthansa, all Star Alliance Members, Iberia, Air Berlin, Fly Niki, Air France-KLM. Carriers such as Finnair and Swissport airlines partners (Sky Europe, Intersky, Cyprus Airways, Air Malta) are expected in the coming months.
Hedi Weihsinger, CUSS Solution Project Manager of Vienna Airport, said: “IER is one of the biggest kiosk supplier in Europe and offered us the latest kiosk generation. IER is very flexible regarding delivery time as well as regarding cooperation with other partners such as Materna as CUSS platform provider. I have known IER for many years and I will point out the excellent customer service by IER".
As CUSS check-in application is now undergoing an accelerated phase, IER which multiplies kiosks deployments at airports all over the world, is very proud to install Common Use Self-service kiosks at Vienna Airport. For many years, IER has been involved with IATA in creating the CUSS standard and has gained an extensive expertise in this field resulting in a comprehensive range of solutions including hardware, middleware and customized self-service applications.
