2007-02-15 - First CUSS site in the Middle East: CUSS kiosks are deployed by IER for Royal Jordanian

Royal Jordanian has selected IER - the leading supplier of passenger and baggage processing solutions in the air transport - to supply the very first Common Use Self-Service check-in platform to be deployed in the Middle East.

Royal Jordanian CUSS kiosks in AmmanThis project was initiated by Royal Jordanian in cooperation with IATA – International Air Transportation Association – who had selected the Amman Airport (Jordan) to be the first place for the implementation of the CUSS programme in the region. This deployment will enable all international carriers flying out of Amman and Aqaba to offer a new service to their passengers through an easy to use check-in facility.

IER has installed 15 IER 978 kiosks, equipped with ATB, GPP and bag tag printers, a passport reader and a bar code reader. Those kiosks are deployed at Queen Alia International Airport of Amman, in the City Terminal of Amman, and at Aqaba Airport, in the South of the country.

In addition to the kiosks, IER also provided Royal Jordanian with the full CUSS application, the multi-airlines interface as well as the monitoring solution which allows the remote supervision in real time of the installed base.

Sébastien Jodeau, Area Sales Manager for Middle East, based in Dubai, says: "Our long presence in the region, the close attention we pay to our customers' needs and the high level of performance of our CUSS platform have convinced Royal Jordan to choose us for this first deployment. We are very proud of it and are also confident that further CUSS developments will happen in the region very soon".

The Royal Jordanian CUSS Self-Service check-in solution was launched on December 20th, 2006.
