IER customers benefit from our vast and unique experience in the air transportation market.

IER has been the key player in the air transportation industry for over 30 years. Our know-how in this domain is widely recognized all over the world thanks to our technical expertise and our acute perception of the changing needs of the market that we have developed over the years. With IER, customers benefit from:

- A full range of products, services and consumables for passenger and baggage handling
- A proficient R&D department responsive to customers’ needs
- Systems that integrate new technologies (RFID, biometrics, etc.)
- Custom software for interfacing with customers’ systems…

Our proficiency in cutting-edge technologies and design allows us to meet our customer requirements and the evolutions of the market.

As the aviation industry moves quickly and dynamically to face new challenges, our customers expect us to get involved as the driving force behind their technological development.
To do so, we keep listening to their requirements and are also actively involved in the IATA “Simplifying the Business” initiatives. The IATA programme’s goal is to find cost reduction possibilities in the industry's complex processes, whilst at the same time enhancing convenience for the customer. The answers lie in simplifying processes and making the most effective use of existing technology.
At IER, we dedicate our resources and extensive expertise to designing and manufacturing the solutions fulfilling these objectives and to integrating the most high-performing technologies while doing so.
To name some of them:

- IER CUSS solutions including hardware (IER 918 and IER 918 series),
CUSS Middleware & software, servers and professional services

- 2D barcode printing and reading capabilities, either in terminals or included in global systems such as self-service kiosks and automatic boarding gates…

- IER global RFID solution for baggage handling, including hardware
(printers, readers, arrays), software (integration) and consumables
(bag tags including RFID inlays, both fully manufactured by IER)

IER is a permanent member of the CUSS technical group.

One of the five Simplifying the Business cornerstones is the development and implementation of Common Use Self-Service kiosks for ticketing and check-in operations.
Over the last two years, the deployment of the CUSS self-service kiosks has been accelerating. The determining factor which initiated this expansion was the publication in 2003 of the “CUSS standard Version 1.0” developed by the IATA CUSS Technical Group.

The CUSS Technical Group is managed by IATA and brings together engineers of the technical departments and Research and Development services of airports, airlines as well as the main manufacturers and designers of solutions dedicated to passenger processing.

IER has been an active member of this group since its inception in 1999 and has contributed to the design of the CUSS standard from the very beginning.

Our membership of the CUSS Technical Group allows IER to be a driving force of the CUSS standard evolution. We put into it the best of our expertise as a designer, manufacturer and installer of global solutions.

IER also has industrial experience in other markets which widens its domain of expertise and provides tremendous synergies.

Not only does IER develop solutions for air transport self-service, but we also design and deploy thousands of self-service ticket vending machines for the railway transportation market, which gives us a useful knowledge of the latest technologies involved…

Not only does IER design and manufacture RFID bag tags, global systems and air baggage handling, we also supply millions of RFID inlays and data capture systems to major operators of the retail market, such as Marks & Spencer in the United Kingdom…

Not only does IER and its Belgian subsidiary Automatic Systems SA develop solutions for access control at airports, but Automatic Systems also designs and deploys thousands of automated access control gates in buildings, highways, subways, etc.

Thanks to these multiple synergies, our customers benefit from an ever-increasing innovation capability as well as a continuously updated technical expertise.
