2009-11-03 - IER first Customer Forum in Asia: a successful event

On October 14 and 15, IER – the leading supplier of passenger and baggage processing solutions in the air transportation industry – had brought together in Hong Kong the major airlines and airports from Asia Pacific on the theme “Extending the Self-service Experience”.

During the two-day working sessions, IER gave a complete overview of some innovative solutions that were rolled out in the last 12 months. This meeting has allowed IER to share views with numerous transportation industry representatives from Asia Pacific region on topics such as self-tagging, self-service baggage drop, self-service check-in and security check-point.
The success of the meeting demonstrated IER’s capability to understand the changing needs of the market and to imagine innovative solutions to improve passenger processing through the airport, while at the same time improving efficiency and reducing costs for air transportation operators.

Peter Langslow, General Manager Airports, Cathay Pacific Airways said "This meeting was really an interesting and stimulating one. IER did a great job in painting, in Hong Kong, a clear picture of the self-service developments that are occurring in different airports and airlines around the world, and I was glad that many of us were able to join."

“IER is committed to support our airlines and airports partners in deploying comprehensive solutions aiming at making the passengers’ journey seamless, fast and pleasant”, stated Franck Vitte, IER Vice-President Asia & Middle East. “This first Customer Forum hosted by IER in Hong Kong has been a unique opportunity to share the new technologies and practices in the Self-Service arena. The great attendance coming from all over the Asia Pacific region and the strong interest on self-tagging, bag drop and boarding, in addition to the check-in, showed how important these topics are on our customers’ agenda.”

Following the success of the first IER Customer Forum in Paris last June and the recent one in Hong Kong, IER already plans to renew in 2010 the organization of such widely appreciated meeting in different geographical areas.
