IER is pleased to announce that it has deployed new Common Use Self Serve (CUSS) kiosks for Air Canada at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport (CDG). The IER 918 model kiosks enable passengers to complete the entire check-in process and are equipped with full page passport scanners. Since all Air Canada flights at CDG are international, the kiosks automatically scan and validate the passenger’s passport, in order to complete the check-in process and issue a boarding pass.
Marking an important innovation in kiosk check-in, Air Canada allows its passenger to self-tag their bag, another step to give passengers more control over their travel experience. The IER 918 kiosks are equipped with baggage tag printers and instruct passengers on how to affix them to their baggage.
The kiosks are equipped with IER’s CUSS platform which allows any airline with a CUSS compliant application to operate, without having to modify their application. Customers accustomed to using Air Canada’s kiosks in Canada or any other Air Canada locations therefore enjoy a similar, speedy check-in experience.
Patrice Ouellette, Air Canada’s Director Customer Solutions & Innovations, stated “The IER 918 kiosk fits our self-service strategy using 2D barcode technology, while providing a full page passport scanner and enabling passengers to self tag their bags. Equally important was IER’s ability to offer full installation support, proactive monitoring and on-site service.”
“Air Canada’s and IER’s teams worked extremely well together, as we were able to start processing passengers within ten weeks of receiving an order,” said Herve Muller, IER’s General Manager for North America. “We are very pleased to count Air Canada as one of our kiosk customers, since they have long been a leader in the adoption of self-service technology.”
In addition to all hardware and software, IER provided full installation services, and ongoing support through its 24x7 Support and Monitoring Center. IER’s Remote Monitoring System allows the majority of incidents to be solved quickly without the intervention of a technician on site, resulting in maximum kiosk availability.
The IER 918 kiosk is one of the most widely used CUSS kiosks with deployments at airports around the world. IER’s CUSS platform supports the CUSS applications of most of the world’s leading airlines.
