The new TVM offers to the passengers to safely, quickly and easily purchase or retrieve tickets, and also exchange their reservations throughout the entire SNCF main lines rail network. New functionalities make it possible to deliver pre-stamped tickets for a departure within the hour, to select different tariffs for passengers travelling together or select a journey that includes up to two connections. Lastly, to pick up an electronic payment ticket is as simple as introducing the payment  card that was used for the reservation.

“We were interested by the modern appealing design as well as the technical qualities of this new TVM. It is very user-friendly and operations are quick.  Our passengers are getting familiar very fast with these new machines today deployed in the 550 stations of our Main Lines network.”, explains Guy Elkoun, Direct Sales Deputy Director (France & Europe) at the French Railways (SNCF).

IER’s manufacturing plant in Besançon (France) proved its high production capacity and flexibility by assembling, testing and delivering the 1,150 purchased units in a few months time only, during the second semester of 2005. Over 50 TVMs were delivered every week, in addition to the air transport kiosks also being assembled for different airlines and airports, as well as more than 650 self-service kiosks for the “Caisses Primaires d’Assurance Maladie” (national health insurance organisation), and, by the end of 2005, 250 kiosks for the French Post Office. The massive deployment of the TVMs throughout the SNCF network could be done at a remarkable rate of 200 to 300 units per month.
