Air Transportation: Extending the Self-Service Experience

While there is no doubt new technologies could streamline the travel experience, the extended use of Internet, mobile phone and self-service technologies, in air and ground transport industry, will change significantly the passenger’s entire process and provide the passenger with enhanced flexibility, autonomy and responsibility.
IER leads the way with innovative solutions for extending the self-service experience.

Web check-in facilities let passengers control their check-in process on the internet so they can avoid queuing in crowded check-in areas and reduce time spent at the airport. The IER web check-in solution, ALADIN, is a fast, comprehensive and affordable multi-DCS internet check-in application.
ALADIN allows passengers to check in at home, at the office or from any internet connected PC. Intuitive and easy to use, it has been specially designed for airlines wishing to quickly offer self-service check-in to their passenger.

Cost reduction and customer service differentiation are two major benefits that mobile check-in brings to airlines. It dramatically cuts queues and the need to print boarding passes. A growing number of passengers are ready to use their mobile phone to check in. The IER WALTER mobile phone check-in application is IER’s solution to fulfill this expectation.

Self-service kiosks, offer passengers the ability to check in and print their boarding passes as well as, their bag tags by themselves easily and rapidly. Equipped with payment module, the kiosk offers the sale of additional services. Passengers can check in at the airline’s dedicated self-service kiosks or from Common Use Self-service (CUSS) kiosks that can serve more than on airline. CUSS kiosks are now found at a growing number of airports. IER has gained an extensive experience in this field, resulting in a comprehensive range of solutions including hardware, middleware and self-service check-in application ALISS.

Self-service baggage drop-off is the next step towards a fully customer driven process. IER has imagined and designed an automated baggage drop-off solution that is very flexible, easy to install and fully compatible with existing baggage handling systems.

IER, to solve the challenge of finding ways to offer passengers efficient travel at a time when aviation security is constantly being tightened, IER proposes a range of automatic gate for self-service boarding inspired on the experience of Quick Boarding Gate deployed for Lufthansa. The aim is to make sure that passengers passing through the gate are who they claim to be and that they are entitled to board the plane.
